HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR BEETHOVEN!

Auckland Symphony Orchestra, in association with Auckland Live, presents 'Happy Birthday Mr Beethoven'.

The Auckland Symphony Orchestra belatedly celebrates the 250th birthday of Ludwig Van Beethoven with a special performance of his beautiful Pastoral symphony. This music really tells a story and paints a picture, and we will add to our performance by sharing art works from Auckland artists of all ages. We are pleased to welcome stunning young pianist Shan Liu as our soloist in the gorgeous second piano concerto of Chopin, as well as the exuberant March in Bb by Prokofiev and a few birthday surprises.

Shan Liu is 11 years old. He started to learn piano close to 7 years old with Ms Xi Jiang and is currently studying with Stephen De Pledge. Shan has been the winner of numerous piano competitions in China, New Zealand and internationally. Most recently, Shan become the youngest finalist of the 2020 New Zealand National Junior Piano Competition in the events history.
