An Octave Down: Top Surgery Fundraiser
An Octave Down: Top Surgery Fundraiser
SanFran, Sunday June 1st
Join Keira Batten Coogan and friends for an evening of queer sound and creation to raise money for Keira’s top surgery.
An Octave Down has a line-up to remember with exceptional artists who know how to get their audience on their feet - whether it be with their raw lyricism or their earworm hooks.
Doors open 5:00 pm for the market portion, with zines, prints, and other contributions available for purchase to support the cause.
Kindekel Banda-Moyes will kick off the event from 5:00 - 6:00 pm: a drummer turned DJ, Kindekell II plays rhythm heavy techno with influence from minimal, industrial, and hardgroove sounds.
Keira Batten Coogan will open at 6:00 pm: with a few words and a short solo set to welcome the audience with some of their most potent acoustic works.
Ngahuia will follow at 6:30 pm: with her haunting melodies that tug at the heartstrings. Her melancholic tunes are raw, intimate, and atmospheric with themes of longing and growing.
First Reserve will take the stage at 7:00 pm: drawing inspiration from a variety of genres, including folk, rock, and pop. They have amassed a cult of devoted supporters, thanks to their identifiable sound - they affectionately refer to their music as “kinda emo, kinda queer - very catchy.”
Re:ruby will takeover at 7:45 pm: with their interweaving delicate melodies, blistering guitars, and explosive choruses, the alternative rock band’s sound ebbs and flows in the tension they create.
Keira Batten Coogan will be back on stage at 8:30 pm: joined by band members Ryan Connaghan, Isla Batten Coogan, and Kindekel Banda-Moyes, bringing louder life to Keira’s raw and messy lyrics for alien listeners. Themes of queerness, growing pains, love, and nostalgia shine through their lyricism and captivate their audience. The 4-piece will close off the night with a special set constructed just for the occasion.
All proceeds will be put towards Keira’s top surgery.
