Take Five: Egoism’s Top Five Bahn Mi In Sydney!

Local Sydney dream pop band EGOISM have just released their debut album 'And Go Nowhere'. The band combines honest lyrics, singable melodies and trademark shoegaze influence throughout the record which is "an ode to trauma, growth, and to the unbearable anxiety of growing up." We are stoked to sit down with the three-piece as they took us through their top five Banh Mi in Sydney! Check out their picks below.

The band are set to head on their And Go Nowhere Tour. Catch them at The Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney on Fri 13 Jun as part of the venue's 100 Year Celebration. Grab your tickets below!

Words by EGOISM:
I chose this topic because I'm the expert and I've tried them all.

Banh Mi Phuong 18, Bankstown

The best there is. They perform in all areas: taste service, value, location. Every option on the menu is a 10/10, there's really very little else to say about them. Just go.

Le'ss Bakery, Campbelltown

They standout for using a French baguette instead of the traditional Vietnamese roll, which in my opinion makes a huge difference. They also use a lot of different sauces and relishes which pushes it even further away from what most people consider a normal banh mi. It's pretty out of the way for most people but it is 100% worth it. This is the banh mi I think about the most often.

Alex 'n Rolls, Marrickville

If you can catch them open, this is the best of the inner west. Often they're only serving sticky rice which is a completely worthy substitute. Alex n rolls really have this home made indulgence with all their food, it makes you feel good inside.

Carter's Pork Rolls, Redfern

A lot of people love to say that if your banh mi isn't served by a scowling aunty, it's not worth eating. Carters is the exception, genuinely warm bunch of guys making extremely good banh mi. I recommend the crackling pork.

Ho's Bakery, Sydenham

This is nostalgia entry for me. Ho's is a staple of the community, I go there hungover a lot. I insist you get the pork chop banh mi, they fry a pork chop to order. Really really really good.
