Words by Hussy Hicks

Today we're taking five and we're going to talk about five of our favourite things. We could choose anything, but a subject that's dear to our hearts is...duos. Top 5 musical duos. And it wasn't an easy pick. And it's not in order.

Indigo Girls

For years and years and years, the Indigo Girls have been one of my favourite bands and They have to be in the top five because a couple of years ago they invited me up to sing my all-time favourite song, Gone Again, with them when we were in Pensacola, Florida. So the Indigo Girls is part of that top five.

Phil & Tommy Emanuel

Now I'm going to go a little bit rogue and go a duo without vocals. But a huge inspiration for me when I was a child was Phil and Tommy Emanuel. So watching two guitar players who have that sibling familiarity that we've grown to love in so many vocal duos, but watching those two just push each other to instrumental extremes is a combination I couldn't leave off this list.

Vika & Linda

Now let's stick with Australian artists and Vika and Linda, speaking of sibling artists, actually They're still to this day, we've met Vika and Linda a bunch of times and they're still, I just rate them so highly that I turn to jelly when we're in the same room. They're such legends. They're so incredible and we've been lucky enough to play a bunch of lineups with them.

Hat Fitz & Cara

How can you beat that combo? I mean, her vocals and drumming and his vocals and guitar playing, they're just absolute bosses individually. It's extraordinary, and they're really nice people too. That is an extra bonus. They've also played Blues Fest a bunch of times.

Tedeschi Trucks Band

Not officially a duo, but a duo that's actually a band, which we're very familiar with that concept. So we're going to run with them, because again, like, how do you beat that combo? And some of my all-time favourite blues first performances was Tedeschi Trucks. And we also got to see them in Colorado at Red Rocks with Marcus King, who's at Blues this year.
