Tall Folk:

Lara is from a long line of long legs. Jack is an extension of generations of long necks. Together, with their long limbs and swirling harmonies, they are Tall Folk. As an US-American import, Jack brings song-writing and Midwestern twang hardened in Americana tradition. Lara softens and juxtaposes the raspy edges with warm, resonant harmonies established through years embedded in the Dunedin folk scene. In June 2021, they released their debut EP recorded in a Catlins’ bach with the assistance of Dunedin rocker Michael Morris. Keeping the wheels a-turnin’ on the rail, they recorded their debut album with Tom Bell (Marlin’s Dreaming) at Chick's Hotel featuring a slew of talented local session players. To celebrate the album's release in Janurary 2022, Tall Folk will showcase these tunes in their honest form as a duo on their national album release tour.

Jenny Mitchell:

Multi award winning, alt-country Aotearoa artist, Jenny Mitchell is a storyteller with songs wrapped in wisdom and wit. An artist who blends folk, alt-country and Americana into her own captivating style, this young kiwi songwriter, "is dynamite," (Felicity Urquhart, ABC Australia). Described by Jesse Mulligan (RNZ) as an unapologetically country artist going from strength to strength, Jenny has graced dozens of festival stages including Australia’s Maldon Folk Festival, Nannup Festival and, of course, the Tamworth Country Music Festival. At home in NZ she’s been on the Canterbury and Wellington Folk Festival bill and was a guest on the 2019 Southern Fork Americana Fest lineup. Jenny Mitchell is comfortable with a country twang or softly spoken ballad and is rapidly capturing fans across the globe. With recent appearances with Tami Neilson, Julia Deans and Australia’s Felicity Urquhart, it’s clear this is just the beginning for an artist who knows exactly who she is and feels no need to give way.
