Sheeps: In The Round
Wellington’s Sheeps invite you to a special, one-off performance at legendary local venue Meow. The band will be performing “in the round” - encircled entirely by the audience - playing cuts from their upcoming debut album. This special performance will be beautifully lit, and filmed for future release.
Sheeps remains an enigma within the Wellington music scene, rarely performing live and still without an official release after five years as a band. This is set to change, however, with the band’s debut single due for release this November, followed by their debut full-length album in February 2022, which has been recorded, mixed, and produced by respected Wellington producer/engineer James Goldsmith.
Though Sheeps was born from writing sessions between brothers/guitarists Dean & Simon Blackwell in an Oriental Bay basement in 2015, the band didn’t begin in earnest until the addition of third guitarist Grace Baker, drummer Thomas Friggens, and bassist Blain Fitzpatrick the following year. The band quickly amassed a cult following and began to draw comparisons to the shifting, evolving art rock structures of Radiohead, the affecting and often bleak lyricism of The Smiths, and the grandiose atmospherics of post-rock bands Jakob & Mogwai. In the years since, Sheeps’ following and profile have continued to grow, bolstered by their recent inclusion on this year’s lineup for legendary New Zealand music festival Twisted Frequency.
Tickets go on sale at 12:00pm, Friday 24th September 2021.
This is a limited capacity event, taking place under Alert Level 2 conditions, and is expected to sell out.
Attendees consent to their filming and sound recording as members of the audience. By attending this event, you agree to being filmed or photographed which may be used for marketing or promotional purposes.
