Black Smoke Trigger formed in 2019 and quickly hit the studio to record the EP ‘Set It Off’ with legendary producer Michael Wagener (Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Skid Row). Wagener says “I loved their music from the minute we met. The songs are kick-ass”. Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars also featured on the track ‘The Way I’m Wired’.    ‘Set It Off’ jumped onto the US Billboard charts with #12 Hard Rock Album Sales and #13 Heatseekers Albums, as well as 5 other categories. A then self-managed band from a small town in New Zealand beating major label releases.

The combination of passion, talent and an unwavering work ethic caught the ear of Spectacle Entertainment Group’s legendary rock manager Andy Gould (Pantera, Rob Zombie, Linkin Park, Guns N’ Roses). Speaking on the band’s debut music video “It was everything I love about rock music,” said Gould. “The visuals and song were great. Digging deeper, I realised this band had crazy talent, and it was something I had to be involved with.”

In 2021, BST signed with the Los Angeles based manager.    In April 2022, the band teamed up with Grammy award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Alice In Chains, Korn) to record their debut album (coming 2023) at Rock Falcon Studio in Nashville, TN. “Originally, we were planning on recording a 6 track EP, but Nick loved the songs and pushed us to make this our debut album”, Charlie says, “We had two stints of recording in Nashville, then Nick flew over to New Zealand and we turned my entire house into a recording studio to get the final pieces”.

The young band with old souls is fronted by vocalist Baldrick, with his distinctive tone, passion and range reminiscent of the greats such as Chris Cornell & Layne Staley. The propulsive rhythm section of bassist Dan Fulton and drummer Josh Te Maro drive BST, with Charlie Wallace’s melodic solos & riffs broadening the band’s scope even further.    “We do everything we can to put on the best show possible” says Baldrick, “We love performing and earning new fans every time we hit the stage, it’s what we live for".

Black Smoke Trigger will be hitting the road in 2024 to promote the release of their debut album.
