Event Details

Alternative pop duo Balu Brigada and fast rising alt hip hop artist Rhys Rich are teaming up for one night only at Meow on Saturday 15th of May. With special guest Aunty El adding extra heat on support duties, you'd best wear your comfy shoes as there's going to be a lot of dancing.

Balu Brigada are an alt pop duo from New Zealand, made up of multi-instrumentalist writer/producer brothers, Henry and Pierre Beasley. The duo dropped their Almost Feel Good mixtape in 2019, showcasing their ability to skate genres and pull from a broad range of influences, from Clairo to the Gorrillaz to Tyler the Creator. Funk-inflected basslines glide under R&B beats, with lyrics relatable to any young person figuring themselves out  - whether they’re navigating a long distance relationship over Skype or dining out alone on Christmas Day.

Born in Taupo and raised in Kalgoorlie, Rhys Rich brings a blend of hip-hop, RNB and soul to the table. Rhys released his breakout single 'No Confetti' in late 2020 to great applause. We have also seen the addition of 'Red Rover', 'Family of Solace', and a feature on Muroki's 'Crossroads' cement themselves into his discography, over the past 12 months. Whilst having supported the likes of Church and AP, Ladi6, Diggy Dupe, and Vayne, Rhys Rich's live show is ever evolving and now sees the recent introduction of a full live band. With a limited discography currently available, the hype is steady building as more and more people eagerly wait to hear what's next.
