An evening of songs and stories from Poneke-based singer-songwriter LOST BiRD, with support from special guest Gabriel Bond.

LOST BiRD is the musical pseudonym of Aotearoa-born, UK-raised, Ali Whitton. Now in his forties, Ali started writing songs at seventeen years old in his bedroom in the countryside of North Yorkshire before cutting his teeth playing solo in the London gig circuit in the early 2000’s.

Ali’s early songs were inspired by Bright Eyes and Damien Rice, before moving to London and playing alongside talented peers including Ed Sheeran. In 2010, Ali moved back home to Aotearoa New Zealand and started playing under the name LOST BiRD. This new stage-name reflected newer influences like Tallest Man on Earth and set Ali’s intentions that one-day it would be a band and not a solo project.

Life challenges and health issues punctuated a decade of songwriting, before Ali rediscovered music after a big separation, and more-recently rekindled hunger for writing in a project that saw him write

52 songs in 12 months. One new song every week.

GABRIEL BOND is singer-songwriter with a passion for telling stories through music. Through honest, evocative lyricism and melodic guitar parts, Gabriel takes each listener on a journey through song. Gabriel writes about his own personal experiences with life, love, heartbreak and mental health, alongside what he has witnessed in the lives of the people around him as he’s grown up, and issues in the wider world. He has spent the last several years gigging and headlining shows in both Auckland and Wellington City in New Zealand, and when he isn’t gigging he is writing and producing music, for both himself and others.

His latest single, Survivor, was released in December of 2023, and he hopes to release his debut EP in mid-2024.
