Whistle-tone queen Ariana Grande just opened The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, performing a cover of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Women” alongside the roots. The performance was a tribute to the late Aretha Franklin who passed away last night at the age of 76.

Watch footage of the emotional performance below, as well as a video of Ariana discussing the queen of soul with Jimmy Fallon. It was reported that Franklin was gravely ill just four days ago. A statement from the Franklin family this morning confirmed the singer had passed away.

Later in the show, Ariana recounted her encounters with Franklin, including when the queen of soul casually called her. Grande’s new album Sweetener is out today, it includes the absolute bop “God Is A Woman”, as well as collaborations with Nicki Minaj, Pharrell, and more.
