Celebrating NZ's music scene - discover & fall in love with 3 artists each month

The Tuning Fork is proud to present June’s edition of Thursdays I’m In Love happening on June 23rd at Tāmaki Makaurau's favourite downtown venue. Tickets are just $10!

Throughout the night you’ll be entertained by the indie anthems of Ha The Unclear, the moody shoegaze of Wellington's Soft Plastics and racus post-punk of Ringlets.

For those new to Thursdays I'm In Love, on the last Thursday or every month The Tuning Fork selects three of the best acts from throughout Aotearoa and hosts them for a special one-off performance. Audiences are promised to fall head over heels for every band on the line up, discovering new faves at every show.

ARTIST BREAKDOWN

Ha The Unclear: They've spent the better half of the last decade honing their brand of inquisitive indie pop. This will be their first full band performance in Auckland in over a year, and they are primed to bring their A-Game. Their live show can’t be beat, and has seen them take their lyric heavy jangle on tour with Courtney Barnett. They've supported The Shins & The Dandy Warhols, and featured on festival line ups like Rhythm & Vines, & CubaDupa.

Soft Plastics: Te Whanganui-a-Tara trio Soft Plastics take influence from 90s shoegaze, and 2010's alt-rock, offering a masterclass in converting fuzz, noise and reverb into nostalgic garage pop hooks. Their more recent single Day Job climbed it's way to the top of the SRN Top 10 & 95bFM Top 10. This will be the only chance to catch them before they head out on the road with Fur Patrol later in the year.

Ringlets: Having formed last year in Auckland, Ringlets have just burst out of the gate with an urgent guitar crunch, several parking tickets, and an old thesaurus smeared in milk chocolate. So far they have released four minutes of music and spent time on stage equivalent to that which is requisite for pressure cooking a 12lb turkey. They have every intention of growing these figures.
