Anthony Donaldson returns with ... The Mean Bones!
"The Mean Bones amazed with an action-packed set that combined excellent rhythms, Mongolian dialects and frenzied trombones while summoning the spirits of Sun Ra and Zappa’s Monster Magnet. Thank you Anthony Donaldson, Jonny Marks, Joe Lindsay et al for the perfect finale to a good night out" - Nick Bollinger
Legendary Wellington drummer, Anthony Donaldson (Six Volts, Teeth) leads the Mean Bones, a new 9-piece super-group of Wellington's best creative musicians, featuring members of
Fat Freddy's Drop, Phoenix Foundation, Orchestra of Spheres, All Seeing Hand, The Troubles and more.
The Mean Bones sound is a bedrock of deep voodoo grooves, out of which emerge shamanic vocals, lightning-sharp synths, jazz-damaged guitar, barnstorming reeds and the double trombone frontal attack from which the band derives its name.
