Ripple Effect Band are from the remote community of Maningrida in Arnhem Land,

Northern Territory. Whilst following in the tradition of saltwater rock from the top end, they

are forging new ground and a new sound as the first women from their community to play

instruments and make their own band. Originally called the Front Street Girls when they were

at high school together, they reformed with a new name and an aim to show Australia how

women can rock the stage.

In 2017, they recorded their debut Wárrwarra, four songs in four Aboriginal languages,

Ndjébbana, Burarra, Na-kara and Kune. Over 2018 they toured to Sydney, Perth, Darwin,

Alice Springs and Adelaide as well as Garma and Barunga Festivals. This year they are

excited to be performing for the first time in Melbourne as part of their From North to South

tour that also includes the Mona Foma Festival in Launceston.

This is a rare opportunity to see Ripple Effect Band who are an act not to be missed. They

have a contagious energy and excitement born from their love of music and they have such

stories to share about their land, their languages and their culture.
