Secret Sounds presents
OH WONDER
(UK)

Frequent and much-loved visitors to Australia, London-based dream pop duo Oh Wonder will sashay back onto our golden shores this August with two very special shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Touring in support of their brand new third album No One Else Can Wear Your Crown, and showing off it’s enchanting singles HappyHallelujah, Better Now and I Wish I Never Met You, this dazzling duo have carved a reputation for lilting, synth-based pop perfection replete with intertwining female / male vocals and thoughtfully resonant lyricisms.

Formed of the musical and spiritual connection between super talented singer / songwriter / producers  Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West, Oh Wonder first made waves in 2014 when they embarked on the ambitious project of releasing one song per month for an entire year.

The 12 resultant songs were eventually packaged up and delivered as a self-titled debut album in September 2015. Highlights like Livewire, Drive, Without You and Lose It all clocked up millions of YouTube views and ensured that the release hit #26 on the Official UK Charts and also rocketed up the US Billboard Hot 100.

Not starting the project with any intention to tour, Vander Gucht and West decided that they might as well say hello to their new army of fans in person. Beginning with four sold out shows in New York, LA, London and Paris, Oh Wonder went on to play hundreds of dates all over the world and some of the biggest festivals on the planet, including our very own Splendour in the Grass in 2017.

Moving gracefully from one record to the next, sophomore release Ultralife was unveiled in July 2017, accompanied by a gorgeous title track and stunning single Lifetimes. Picking up right where their debut left off, the album was critically acclaimed, with Uncut Magazine praising it’s “soaring choruses and shimmering soundscapes”.

Ultralife eventually hit the Top 10 at home in the UK and also landed Oh Wonder their first ARIA Chart placement, proving that their love for Australian audiences was reciprocated in a big way.

As they gear up for the release of No One Else Can Wear Your Crown by taking in tour dates all over the UK, Europe and the US throughout 2020, it will be a pleasure to witness Oh Wonder back on the East Coast of Australia, providing an irresistible taste of their homespun melodic magic.
