Vaughan Williams The Lark Ascending (soloist: Jim Wu, violin)

Ravel -Pavane for a Dead Princess
Mussorgsky - Pictures at an Exhibition

Copland's Fanfare will be familiar to audiences, as it has inspired many compositions, from space shuttle missions to Superman movies. The soaring, lyrical melodies of "The Lark Ascending" makes it a perennial favourite with audiences and Ravel's "Pavane" is a masterpiece. The concert wraps up with Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition", a brilliant showpiece in the orchestral repertoire, displaying the different sections of the orchestra in the most inventive and striking manner.

If this will be your first time attending a symphony concert, check out this link on concert etiquette http://www.ayo.org.nz/concert-etiquette/ – we want you to LOVE this experience!

Tickets will be valid until 10 minutes before the performance starts.
